Turbo Shells

These highly polished turbo shells are beautiful decorative shells. They are measured from the opening across the shell length-wise. The small shells are 2" to 2.5" long. Commonly known as alikrekel, periwinkel, and maggi pie. Turbos are not an endangered species and are not subject to CITES controls. A USFWS export permit is required for all shipments outside the U.S.

The turbo shell operculum comes from the Turbo imperialis sea snail. The operculum is a corneous or calcareous structure like a trapdoor which is used to close the aperture of the shell when the soft parts of the snail are retracted.
