Mule deer are indigenous to western North America and are named for their "mule-like" ears. Mule deer are distinguished from white tail deer by their larger ears, black-tipped tails, and bifurcated antlers that fork as they grow. These are good quality hair-on mule deer hides with or without a tail.

Measurements are derived in the following way:

    • The length is measured down the middle of the hide, not including tails.
    • The top width is the smallest part under the arms or front legs.
    • The middle width is the smallest part across the center.
    • The bottom width is from hind leg to hind leg.

We also measured the thickness of the hair (pile) without skin as 6-7 oz (2.5-3 mm), and with the skin as 14-17 oz (5.5-7 mm). The length of the hair from the base to the tip is measured to be 1.5" (4-5 cm).

A USFWS export permit is required for all shipments outside the USA.
