This is a tanned beaver skin with the feet and tail attached.
We work with a furrier in the north central states who has trappers carefully prepare the feet and tails when putting up the skins. He then has them tanned and we list them for museums, collectors, movie companies, and designers. We only get a handful each year.
If you are trying to make something with the beaver skins (like a blanket or throw or pillows), please keep in mind that the useable size will be smaller than the maximum dimensions. Please do not hesitate to ask for help with measurements if needed.
Beaver are not an endangered species. They are not subject to CITES. They are very common in Canada and parts of the United States.
A USFWS export permit is required for all shipments outside of the U.S.
We do not recommend shipping beaver skins to Germany. We had a beaver skin shipment returned by German customs in November 2012.
The sizes shown are for tanned skins and are approximate. The extra-large skins are also commonly known as blanket beavers because of their sizes.
