I purchased these awesome hand-made baskets at the Abenaki reservation in Odanak, Quebec in July 2005 from Marguerite Panadis, who is liquidating her store as a result of an illness that set in around 2000. This necklace is made by Gloria McConini, frequently referred to as "Mrs. Beaver" in Quebec, Canada using traditional Native smoked moosehide and various animal parts. These are extra laces for the buffalo hide moccasins that we sell. They each measure 60" long.The moccasin laces are made from North American Buffalo, not water buffalo. The buffalo leather is a by-product of the food industry. The buffalo are ranch raised for food and are not killed just for their leather.

Each lyme grass basket is handmade by an Inuit artisan. Sometimes a different artisan produces the soapstone sculpture atop the basket. Each basket is unique. There are no export controls for this item.

A real beaver paw is mounted on deerskin suede and trimmed with seedbeads. This is a great item for boys. The necklace, including the pendant measures 44" long. Once our stock of beaver paw necklaces is sold out we doubt we will be able to get any more. Beaver are not an endangered species. The beavers are not killed just for their paws.
