The turbo shell operculum comes from the Turbo imperialis sea snail. The operculum is a corneous or calcareous structure like a trapdoor which is used to close the aperture of the shell when the soft parts of the snail are retracted. We usually have a limited number of North American porcupine skulls for sale at any time. The upper and lower jaws may be separate or glued together. These purple cay cay clam shells are sold in one kilogram (2.2 pound) bags. The shells are approximately 0.5" to 1" long. There may be some brown or other color shells mixed in.
