This is a box of two Dentalium elephantinum, or elephant tusk, shells. These green shells fade to white at the tip and are nicely ridged and delicately curved. A USFWS export permit is required for all shipments outside the USA.

We work with a tannery in The Philippines that makes parrot fish leather that is soft and supple. The skins are 1.5" to 2" wide at the narrowest end and 5" wide at the widest end. They are approximately 11" long down the middle. The skins weigh about 7.5 grams each. These sponges can be used for a variety of painting techniques to create different faux finishing textures. The length of each individual sponge varies from 1.5" to 3" and width varies from 1" to 2".
